McCall Outdoor Science School

The day I was accepted was filled with excitement, wonder, and a little bit of fear.

I set goals for myself.

  1.  I was going to work hard for my grades

  2. I was only going to accept excellence from myself.

  3. I was going to discover the creative side of my brain and apply that to the science side of my brain.

  4. I was going to learn about myself; what my passions are, what I am good at.

I was viewing this program as a clean slate. I was prepared to get to know myself in a new environment; one that was much different than the world I had become accustomed to hauling fishing nets and carrying electro-fishing equipment. The pages that follow outline my journey of self-discovery and higher education. As you scroll you will follow me through my course work. I have chosen one artifact from each class that I feel proud of, and that I feel exemplifies my time at the McCall Outdoor Science School. I go on to summarize my vision of the future and how the things I have internalized as MOSS will become integrated into my personal and professional life. My experience at MOSS was life changing and I and I am proud to share my work with you.

Place-based learning

I know how difficult it can be to find a reliable teacher that focuses on Group Lessons. Teachers need to be able to motivate and guide students to success. As an experienced Environmental Science Tutor, I can identify students’ problem areas and work with them in positive, constructive ways to achieve success. I design my lessons according to my students’ needs, with an emphasis on confidence-boosting activities.

One-on-One Lessons

I specialize in One-on-One Lessons, and know how to get my students to excel through personalized attention, patience, a lot of practice, and hard work. I make learning fun through a variety of engaging and outside-the-box activities. Teaching is a skill, but great teaching is more of an art that only a few can master.
